If you enjoy expressing your thoughts and feelings, you should submit your poems to Wingword Poetry Competition.

Our aim is to create a platform that supports and encourages creativity among Indians. Whether you are from a big city or a small town of India, if poetry is your chosen medium of expression, then this competition is for you.

We conduct the Wingword Competition semi-annually awarding a total sum of INR 8,00,0000 (Eight Lakh Rupees) to the prize winners along with the opportunity for their works to be published. The competition is solely for new poets who have little to no recognition.

You are invited to participate in Wingword Poetry Competition’s Winter Cycle. We are excited to receive new poems from those who like to convey their thoughts, imagination and feelings through words.

1st Prize: 50,000 rupees + winner gets their own poetry book published

2nd Prize: 30,000 rupees

3rd Prize: 20,000 rupees

Top 10 Winners receive 10,000 rupees each

100 Commendable Mentions are published in the Wingword Collection of Selected Poems

All participants will receive certificates of participation

Rules

1. Only Indian citizens and persons of Indian origin are eligible to enter.

2. Poems must be the original work of the author, and must not have been created using AI.

3. We accept poems written in English.

4. Children under the age of 15 years old will be automatically entered in JUNIOR CATEGORY. More info here.

5. Any length and style of poetry is welcome.

6. Poems on any subject are accepted. Our poets are encouraged to take inspiration from wherever they may find it.

7. Entry fee is INR 1000 for one poem, INR 2000 for three poems, INR 3000 for five poems and INR 5000 for ten poems.

8. Beginners are encouraged to participate.

9. This is an online writing competition. Performance is not required anywhere. Submission has to be made online through our website.

Judging Criteria

Your poems will be scored on the basis of originality of thought, creativity and style. We are not looking for correct grammar, rhyme scheme or complex words.

The poems should make the reader deeply think about the subject and evoke emotions such as surprise, hope, joy or even sadness and anger.

Award Ceremony

Award ceremony will be held at Delhi Poetry Slam headquarters, next to the Parliament of India (Sansad Bhawan). Winners and commendable mentions are invited to attend, so we can extend our heartfelt felicitations. Chief Guest of the ceremony will be a recognized poet who will hand over certificates of merit and congratulate them on their successes.

Note: It is not compulsory for outstation winners to be there. Those who are not able to visit Delhi will receive the prize money through cheque deposit.
