Rage | Peehu Jaiswal

THE FOLLOWING POEM WAS SELECTED IN WINGWORD POETRY PRIZE 2023 LONGLIST.

if i expressed my rage

The colour would be red

And the walls would bleed

The world didn't owe me anything

But it didn't have to cut so deep

I wasn't just robbed of my innocence

You were equally responsible for taking it away

And I was so busy trying to understand you

I forgot even my grief had a weight

You were a victim but a bystander too

And I was in this cause of you

I spent all my life making sense of it all

Trying to be there fr you as much as i can

Always cushioning your fall

We had all the love in the world but the colour was blue

I was there for you so much that i forgot i needed you too
